Right on the money. I followed Dave's advice for ~10 years and really underperformed the market. I've since educated myself on how to build a true diversified and low cost portfolio. Dave could use a lesson or two about modern portfolio theory and asset class diversification.

Dave Ramsey needs to stick to helping people with credit card debt.

Yeah, I'm a fan of the show too, and it makes me cringe to hear him talk about growth over value, 8% withdrawal rates, and REITs sucking. Diversification with non-correlated assets are a good thing. I'd suspect a lot of the financial elps are American Funds shills (which isn't too bad, but might have the wrong motivation).

I would be curious to see what the 40 year records on those three would be or even a thirty year. These seem more important since most people wont need their money out in ten years.
